How Much Does It Cost to Build a House in Ohio?
What moves the number in the Akron-Canton market specifically, and why statewide averages mislead.
There is no single Ohio number, and any figure you find online is an average of homes that aren't yours. What is useful is knowing which local factors move the cost in the Akron-Canton market, because several of them are specific to building here.
Local factors that move an Ohio build budget
Foundation depth
Northeast Ohio requires footings placed below frost depth, and the required depth is set by your local building department rather than by a single statewide number. Basements

Sewer and water vs well and septic
This is one of the largest single swings between two otherwise identical lots. A septic system in Ohio requires a soil evaluation and a permit from the county health department before it can be installed, and the system design depends on what the soils will support. See well and septic.
Site work

The building envelope
